via NFL.Com- “In the most stunning news of free agency thus far, NFL Media’s Rand Getlin reported that Brock Osweiler and the Houston Texans have agreed in principle to terms on a new contract, according to a source informed of the negotiations. The new deal is worth $72 million over four years, a source told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. NFL Media’s Albert Breer reports the deal includes $37 million fully guaranteed, $21 million in 2016 and $55 million in the first three years of his deal, according to a source informed of the contract. Rapoport adds Osweiler has a $12 million signing bonus.
“Quarterback was our No. 1 priority,” Texans owner Bob McNair told the Houston Chronicle. He (Osweiler) was the one we wanted. (General manager) Rick (Smith) said he was going to get him and he did.”
Atta boy Ricky Smith. I may have wrote this article on Osweiler the other day, but fuck it I’m all in now. Once you become a member of one of my teams, I’ll kill for you. Seriously Brock give me the name of that loser at the pizza joint and I will murder him. No one lays a pinky finger on my franchise QB. Good news is he has a .715 win percentage as a starter and has won a Super Bowl. Bad news is he has only started 7 games in his career and that Super Bowl is not one of them. But like my boy Monix from Semi-Pro told Coffee Black, he earned that ring.
The contract looks scarier than it really is as well. 4 years 72 million for an unproven commodity is a question that came up instantly. However, all of the guaranteed money is built in to the first 2 years, so essentially this is a 2 year deal and we can move on if we need to from there. As for the comparison of his numbers last year to Brian Hoyer’s, just look back at Hoyer and Fitzy’s numbers before they played for Billy O. Butt chin knows how to pad the stats. Supposedly one of the reasons he chose Houston over Denver was that he felt more comfortable in BOB’s system than Kubes (take that asshole).
Brock wasn’t our only big signing of the day either. Minutes later we learned Lamar Miller will be adding some much needed speed to the offense. Poor guy got completely overshadowed by Brock, but it’s a QB driven league so live with it pal. I couldn’t be more ecstatic, watching Alfred Blue run for a yard then fall down has to be the most frustrating shit ever. This offense had no speed and now we have a guy that is electric on his feet and can catch the pill out of the backfield. Welcome to the H boys.
Whether these additions work out or not, it just feels good to have the Texans making actual moves in free agency. Now please Brock, don’t be another tall loser with a big arm like Ryan Mallett.
